The Role
Our consultants are expected to maintain a sufficient level of expertise on all asset classes and mandates related to investment selection and portfolio management, as well as adopt a forward-thinking approach to advising clients on alternate methods of solving problems and designing new methodologies. This position is based in our Toronto office.
Responsibilities
Select third-party investment managers.
Design and construct asset allocation models, leveraging internal experts.
Research and develop new strategies and services, preparing draft reports and back tests, as well as detailing methodologies and conclusions.
Periodically assist with prospecting and presenting technical material to varied audiences.
Perform due diligence on funds in portfolios.
Assist with the evolution of all aspects of the investment consulting structure and processes.
Requirements
Significant relevant investment experience.
Extensive experience working with institutional clients and their clients.
Experience analyzing external portfolio managers.
An understanding of asset allocation techniques.
Comfortable working in a quantitative environment with a desire for continuous learning.
Broad understanding of macroeconomics, the workings of the financial markets, and all traditional asset classes.
A general knowledge of the retail, advisor, and institutional investment fund industry.
An undergraduate degree (or the equivalent) in finance or economics and/or an MBA in a relevant area; a Chartered Financial Analyst designation is strongly preferred.
Programming experience, particularly in MATLAB, is desirable.
