Senior Financial Analyst, McHewel Investment Group - C04453Y
Reporting to the Manager of CTR & Real Estate Accounting, the Senior Financial Analyst, Real Estate Accounting is responsible for overseeing the accounting department of the Real Estate Division. The role requires a well rounded individual with an accounting designation and strong communication and analytical skills. It is essential that the candidate has excellent interpersonal skills and is comfortable to communicate with senior management in Real Estate business, Financial Planning & Analysis and Real Estate Accounting.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the completeness, accuracy and integrity of Real Estate’s financial results
Oversee the preparation and presentation of month end and quarter end financial statements and prepare variance analyses for finance management
Review on a monthly basis journal entries, fixed asset additions and account reconciliations
Prepare the quarterly Reporting Pack for Real Estate for Corporate Accounting for financial statement note disclosures
Assist in preparing CTREL legal entity financial statements and notes (in accordance with IFRS) as required for taxation and CTC debt covenants. Review and prepare slides for CTREL board presentation.
Work closely with Real Estate business to ensure complex transactions are recorded properly and accounting issues are resolved on a timely basis
Ensure the team operates in a well controlled environment and CEO/CFO requirements are met
Review and communicate financial results with Manager, AVP and the Financial Planning and Analysis department
Manage relationships with Corporate Accounting, Tax, External Auditors and other internal finance teams
Conduct continuous Process Improvement to improve the efficiency of financial reporting
Maintain and continuously review complex financial models used for financial reporting, including impairments, environmental costs, asset retirement obligations, provisions, gain/losses on disposals and classification of investment & held-for-sale properties which are reviewed by senior management and external auditors
Coach, develop and mentor the Real Estate Accounting team
Qualifications
University Degree in Business or College Diploma in Accounting
Professional Accounting Designation (preferably CA, CMA or CGA)
Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in general accounting with at least 3 years in financial reporting
Excellent Business Acumen related to accounting
Proven ability and skills to interpret and make recommendations with complex concepts and interdependencies (contracts, accounting Concepts)
Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills
Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PeopleSoft and Microsoft Access
Experience in the Real Estate Finance or Accounting field is considered an asset
